Under 18 County Cricket comes to Devon

In 1996 the ECB introduced an Under 17 Competition which replaced the Texaco Under 16 Cup and now after twenty-four successful seasons it has, in turn, been replaced by a competition for under 18s. Although this change is welcomed as it will provide further opportunities for young Devonians to experience longer format cricket is has created a void between fifteens and eighteens which in the short term will be filled by our Development side. The new competition structure has been slightly altered resulting in an additional side, Berkshire, joining Devon, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Somerset and now Wales (replacing Worcestershire) in the South Group.

Devon will start in June with five one day white ball games followed, in July and August, by a similar number of three day games. The fixture list is being finalised and preparations for a new era of County Age Group Cricket has already commenced. This will be the first time three age groups - 16 / 17 /18 -  will all be working together to fulfill the Development and Under 18 programmes.
