Make the Sports Parents Promise as part of this year's parents in sport week

Parents play a pivotal and vital role in encouraging and supporting their child’s participation, success and fun when playing sport.

To raise awareness of this, every October NSPCC mark Parents in Sport Week, which focuses on the role of the sporting parent in helping young people reach their full potential. This year, they're also asking parents to sign up to the Sports Parents Promise in the lead up Parents in Sport Week - held between 7th and 13th October 2019.

The NSPCC offers an invaluable source of information for parents, highlighting what parents can do to best support their child in sport.

The aim this year is to get parents to make the Sports Parents Promise to encourage their child's safe enjoyment of sport.

The Promise outlines what makes a great sports parent and the NSPCC are asking parents to sign up and make the promise to their child by the end of Parents in Sport Week 2019.

Making this promise allows parents to acknowledge the contribution they make to their child's enjoyment of sport, and allows clubs, coaches and other sports organisations to really get parents on board and take an interest in their child's sporting life.

The promise is supported by important and helpful information parents need to help keep their child safe in sport and support them in the best way they can.
