Phil Snyman, who has scored more than 1,000 runs in competitive cricket for D&T this season

DARTINGTON & Totnes completed their promotion season undefeated by beating Cornwood 2nd XI by 10 wickets in their final outing.

Dartington were not going to chuck away their 100 per cent record on the last day.

Cornwood were skittled out for 91 in the 28th of their 45 overs. Ben Griffiths (25) and Jamie Bailey (11) were the only batters to reach double figures.

Wickets were shared with three each for Harry Baxendale and Phil Snyman and two apiece for Andrew Bligh and Nick Dennis.

Undefeated openers Snyman (61) and Chris Cook (25) had the runs knocked off in just 9.2 overs.

Snyman’s record for the season is 848 runs in the league – five 50s, two tons  - and a further 232 runs in cup competitions.

Ashburton’s win over Kingsbridge meant they finished second. Cornwood were third.

STOKE Gabriel defeated Plymouth 2nd XI in a hurry when they met Plymouth at Mount Wise in their final league outing.

Tom Hughes top scored with 34 and there were 27s from opener James Toms and skipper Phil Taylor in a below-par Plymouth total of 162 all out.

Jake Robinson (3-27) was the lone Stoke bowler to take more than two wickets.

A 91-run stand between openers Jack Tolley (70) and Andy Kingdon (31) launched Stoke on the road to a four-wicket win.

Bits and pieces – the best 18 from Seb Ansley – had the game won inside 20 overs.

BABBACOMBE squeezed a two-run win over Shaldon to end a disappointing season on a high spot.

The Walls Hill side have been resigned to a second successive relegation for a while and were down again before the final round of fixtures.

Opener Dean Durrant lashed 70 of the first 82 runs on the board as Babbacombe raced to 252 for nine in 45 overs.

Andy McVeigh (49) and Billy Allcock (27) added 74 for the third wicket and Steve Bowman (31) assisted McVeigh adding a further 61.

Ross Aitchison (4-52) shaded the Shaldon bowling effort from Ross Abraham (3-46).

Shaldon opener Karl Blackburn blazed 132 off 106 balls as the visitors set off in hot pursuit. He was ninth out with seven overs to go.

Aitchison and Robbie Hall kept going all the way and had the target down to three to win when McVeigh (4-9) bowled Hall with nine balls to go.

ASHBURTON chased to win by four wickets at Kingsbridge and secure second spot in the final table.

Bhanu DeSilva (45) and Will Dorey (73) were the main run getters for Kingsbridge in their 248 for six. Dorey and Ed Churrch (31) put on 112 for the fourth wicket.

Will Coon (0-20 off 9) kept the overs down at one end for Ashburton.

Openers Jake Pascoe (49) and Lloyd White (41) gave Ashes a 110-run start.

Kings’ bowlers Clive Clarke (2-19) and Neal Peach (2-22) slowed the chase before Martin Causey (31) and Steve Edmonds (23no) got it back on course. Matt Coon and Edmonds put on 68 to win it with three overs to spare.

There is nothing for being runners-up in the C West as it only has one promotion place. For Ashes skipper Ashley Berr the campaign was more than satisfactory despite finishing second.

“What a fantastic season,” said Berry.

“Our targets at the start of the season were to improve slightly on last year's position.

“We have become very consistent with both bat and ball and much more efficient at seeing out results.

“It's amazing what you can achieve when you couple belief and effort with a bit of talent and the aim to enjoy your Saturday.”

YELVERTON bowed out of the C Division West after one season in it with an eight-wicket defeat by Bridestowe.

Phil Mutlow (24) as the only Yelverton batter to make more than nine in a total of 76. No one else made more than nine.

Chris Lavis (2-25) and Callum Mallett (2-29) did the hard work at the top. Alex Jopling (5-9) cleared out the rest.

Gary Sizmur’s 35 not out saw Bridestowe over the line in the 21st over.
