Five points is all Sandford need to stay up + Four will do it for Bovey + odds stacked against North Devon

Sandford captain Richard Foan - not about to relax yet

SANDFORD skipper Richard Foan will only start to relax once his side have earned five points from their game final against Exmouth.

Sandford and Bovey Tracey are level pegged on 180 points one place above the drop spots in the Premier Division.

If things go horribly wrong for Sandford – or Bovey – they could be in trouble if second-bottom North Devon win and win well against doomed Torquay.

Five points will end all the worrying for Sandford. Four will do it for Bovey, whose total of eight wins already would keep them up in the event of a points dead head. Bovey are at home to Plymouth.

“Obviously it is just important we get the points we need to stay up and that is the focus this week,” said Foan.

“Premier cricket is crucial for any club, especially a village club like ourselves, and hopefully we can maintain it this weekend to improve the squad going forward.

“The 2ndXI are close to promotion and the club is looking at the option of a third team next summer.

“Add that to one of the best grounds in the county and hopefully 2020 will be a great summer for the club.”

Sandford would be in deep trouble had they not beaten Sidmouth by 46 runs in their last outing.

North Devon are at home to Torquay in their final game of the season.

Champions Heathcoat will be presented with the Premier Division trophy prior to their game against Exeter on the County Ground.

Elsewhere, Sidmouth are at home to Paignton.
