ASHES winner Marcus Trescothick will be sharing his experiences of the greatest Test series of all time during an Ashes Eve curry night out in Newton Abbot.

Trescothick was a member of Michael Vaughan’s 2005 Ashes-winning side that wrestled the famous urn back from the Aussies after 16 years of being second best.

The BBC claimed on the day after England regained the Ashes it was the ‘most thrilling series’ ever played.

Trescothick, who recently announced his retirement as a First-Class cricketer with Somerset after 27 years on the staff, will be talking about the 2005 Ashes and the looming series against the old enemy.

The dinner is at the Eastern Eye restaurant in Newton Abbot on Wednesday, July 31, the night before the Ashes series starts at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

The organisers are South Devon CC, who have hosted a number of events involving Somerset players in recent seasons, including a testimonial game for Trescothick last season.

Tickets priced at £30 are available on-line from the South Devon CC web site www.southdevoncc.co.uk

Any profits from the event will be shared between the cricket club and the Children’s Hospice South West in Barnstaple, a charity Trescothick has supported for a number of years.
