Gaggle of clubs vying for top spot in B Division

ANY one of Ipplepen, Plymstock or Thorverton could be top of the B Division table tomorrow night if they win their games.

Current leaders Seaton are 16 points clear at the top of the table, but it is their turn for a day off in a division with an odd number of clubs.

Ipplepen and Plymstock share second place with Thoverton are point further behind in fourth.

Ipplepen are away to Kilmington, who beat Brixham by 202 runs last time out.

Brett Garner, the Kilmington captain, anticipates a tougher task.

Killy’s injury issues are easing but they are still two players short of a full side.

“We have had some good battles with Thorverton in previous seasons,” said Parr.

“They're a good side and are going well this season so it's going to be a tough game.

“There's a few teams jostling for positions in the top half of the table and a win this weekend would keep us right in the mix.

“Both sides will be looking for a positive result, so it should be a good, competitive game of cricket.”

Thorverton, who beat Plymstock last time out, have players missing for the short trip to Cullompton.

Skipper Andy Pitt and the Choules brothers, Jake and Harry, are all away.

Ben Sapiecha, Paul Stirling and Jacob Broom all come up.

“Like most games are in this division it is another important one,” said Pitt.

“With Seaton and Ipplepen missing games in the next two weeks, there is ground to be made.

“Cullompton are probably a different side to that of which we came up against last year but I'm full of confidence in the side that we have available this weekend.”

Plymstock go to lowly Chudleigh, who have dropped within eight points of the relegation places.

“We have played them quite a few times over the years so we know it will be another tough game,” reckoned Plymstock vice-captain James Nicholls.

“Chudleigh have some very good players and a lot of experience so to get back to winning ways we need to be better than we have been in recent weeks.”

Pace bowler rob Cunningham is back on the sidelines so Jonny Norman comes back in.

Charles Martin is back and available now so and will bat early.

All-rounder Dan Britcliffe returns for Chudleigh and will replace Sam Harvey.

“We are just focusing on ourselves at the moment and looking to improve our own game each week,” said captain Matt Heather.

Bottom two Brixham and Bovey Tracey meet at Boundary Park.
