Clyst St George new leaders in D Division East

CHARDSTOCK handed out a 10-wicket hiding to Budleigh Salterton 2nd XI after skittling them out for 110.

Rob Hutchings put his feet up after taking four Budleigh wickets for 24 runs and there were two each for Alex Watson and James Pyman .

Opener Steve Booth (21) and Alex Richardson (29no) had the only scores of note for Budleigh.

Chardstock openers Steve Allsopp (51) and Gary Larcombe (54) knocked off the runs without mishap inside 23 overs.

CLYST St George are top of the shop in the D Division East after a convincing 79-run win at Sandford.

Andy Donovan made 95 either side of runs from Sam Read (43) and Inder Singh (29) in Clyst’s total of 245 all out.

Sandford seamer Neil Maud took for wickets for 18 runs.

Ryan Glass was Sandford’s third man out for 35 in a running total of 47 for four. Adam Small (59) and Brian Leach (34) gave Sandford hope with a stand of 85, but once George O’Dwyer parted them it was downhill all the way.

O’Dwyer finished with five for 46, and Hamish Dow had three for 17, as Sandford collapsed to 166 all out. Their last five wickets went for just 16 runs.

LEE Hooper and Guy Bucknell steered Sampford Peverell & Tiverton to a five-wicket win over Feniton that puts them third in the D Division East.

Bucknell, a close-season recruit from Heathcoat, made 61 not out and Hooper 73 in a stand of 127 that set-up the chase.

Former Dorset batter Bucknell batted through to the end and is sand of 46 with James Mayes (28) made the outcome academic.

Opener Graham Tucker scored a century for Feniton in their total of 197 all out.

Tom Hatton (3-41) was supported by Will Bucknell and Ben Franks with two wickets each in the bowling department.

KENTISBEARE are one off the bottom of the table following their two-wicket defeat in the derby clash with Honiton.

There were plenty of chip-ins towards Kents’ total of 199 all out, the best coming from James Sprague (32), Ed Halse (32) and Owen Thomas (34).

Rob Ingram was Honiton’s three-wicket bowler.

Dave Haysom (57) and Andrew Lapping (68) got Honiton off to a 108-run start and it was looking like a stroll in the park.

Matt Stewart (3-17 off 9) had other ideas and Honiton were glad of 22 not out from Ingram for getting them over the line from a nervy 168 for eight.

CLYST Hydon came up short on the chase by 15 runs when the visited Upottery.

James Mitcham lashed 105 and Adam Pulman made exactly 50 in Upottery’s tally of 288 for seven.

Most of the Hydon bowlers suffered – James Billington’s three wickets cost 70 runs – although Chris Holmes was a respectable one for 29 from nine.

Hydon really went for it when they batted and stands of 86 between Sinthuran Thevaraj (28) and Ian Sutton, then 76 between Sutton (75) and Dom Carswell (51) made it interesting.

Ben Kidson – four wickets and a run-out – swung it back Upottery’s way, but until Alex Newman (47no) ran out of partners it could have gone either way.

Hydon were all out for 274 with three balls to go.
