Uplyme CC vs. North Devon 2nd XI

Club breach Playing Regulation 4 iv

Saturday 28th July 2018 – Uplyme & Lyme Regis vs. North Devon 2nd XI

D Division (East)

On Saturday 28th July Uplyme & Lyme Regis CC first XI were fixtured to play North Devon 2nd XI, away, in the D Division (East) of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League.   Uplyme & Lyme Regis took the decision to concede the match to North Devon.  However, their 2nd XI completed their fixture on the same day with Exmouth 3rd XI.

This action is in contradiction to Playing Regulation 4. Iv which says that, in other than exceptional circumstances, no team may fail to fulfil a higher XI fixture, whilst fulfilling a lower XI fixture on the same day.

The League invited the club to comment on its decision and their reply received.  It is the view of the League that the reasons given do not constitute exceptional circumstances and that a breach of the playing regulation has taken place.   Uplyme & Lyme Regis CC first XI are therefore deducted 10 points from their team total.   All points accrued from their 2nd XI fixture with Exmouth CC are lost.
