Friends invited to join family for celebration of Richard Cabburn's life

THE busy life of Heathcoat CC chairman Richard Cabburn will be celebrated on Monday after his funeral.

A private service for family only will be followed by a celebration of Cabburn’s life in the Heathcoat pavilion on the Knightshayes estate overlooking Tiverton.

Cabburn, who was 54, died unexpectedly earlier this month. He is survived by wife Rhona and son Christian.

Richard CabburnRichard Cabburn was a successful businessman in the textile trade, had been an enthusiastic racing car driver and classic car collector and inherited a love of cricket from his father Norman.

Friends from Cabburn’s many interests have been invited to the celebration to say a few words and reminisce with other acquaintances.

The celebration starts at 12.30. Anyone planning to attend is asked to park in the nearby National Trust car park.

Alistair Deighton-Gibson, a friend of Cabburn’s and the president of the Heathcoat club, said the family have a couple of requests.

“The family have requested that people do not wear black,” said Deighton-Gibson.

“Can people planning on going go to Christian Cabburn’s Facebook page and announce their intention to attend, that would help with catering numbers.”

The Devon Dumplings wandering cricket club were due to play Arden Taverners at Heathcoat on Monday. That game has now been moved to the Clyst St George ground (EX3 0RE) and will now be a 40-over game starting at noon.
