Kentisbeare set two new records in one game

Record breakers - Rory and Paul Tatterton

RECORDS are there to be broken – and Kentisbeare keep going for them in the E Division East.

Last Saturday’s 381 for three against Thorverton II was just four runs short of the club record 385 for five scored against Upottery in July 2016.

Kents made no mistake on Saturday as the old record was blown out of the water by the 412 for six hoisted against Ottery St Mary II.

The opening stand of 228 between the Tattertons – dad Paul (151) and son Rory (81) – is an early contender for record status in the new E Division East Kents’ are playing in this season.

It was Tatteton senior’s second successive ton as he took 130 off Thorverton.

Josh Farley (45), keeper and club chairman Scott Chappell (23) and Andrew Chave (37no) all ensured a trying day for the Ottery bowlers.

Youngster Lawrence Walker’s three for 78 off nine doesn’t look too bad under the circumstances.

Ottery bowler Jack Dallyn joined an exclusive club with figures of two for 111.

Anthony Dean them made an impressive 124 off 128 balls – 24 fours in that knock – as Ottery replied with 242 for eight.

Tom Jeacock (36) and Matt Jeacock (20) chipped in.
