CLYST Hydon remain winless after a crushing 10-wicket defeat by second-placed Kilmington

Charlie Kidson (6-24) dominated the bowling figures for Exeter, mopping up the bottom half as Feniton slid from 215 for five to 228 all out.

Veteran left-hander Mike Wilkinson opened up for Exeter and his unbeaten 98 underpinned the run chase. Sean Langford (35) and Kidson (26) chipped in.

OTTERY St Mary are up to fourth after they won by 32 runs at Bruanton.

Opener Oliver West was the anchorman for Ottery, batting on and on to make 105 in a total of 258 for nine.

Callum Mitchell (39) and Smith (34) added another 57, but the clock was ticking and Braunton weren’t keeping up with it.

Ottery’s front line bowlers kept it tight - none tighter than Joe Birch (0-30 off 9) - but it was the change bowlers who made the breakthroughs.

Sam Brook (2-32) took out the openers and Jack Malden (3-19) accounted for Mitchell and Smith as Braunton slowed to 226 for eight.

WHIMPLE were baled out by Steve Hathaway and Will Bardot in their three-wicket win over Budleigh Salterton.

Adam Jones (35) and Sean Mills (20) got late runs before they were picked off by Devon Nightingale (3-18).

Whimple collapsed to 58 for six in reply with Cameron Kidd’s 20 as good as it had been. Jones (5-30) did the damage.

Bardot (20) and Hathaway (29no) guided Whimple to the win.

“At tea I was more than happy with the score and fancied a straight forward run chase – how wrong was,” said Whimple skipper Ben Silk.

“As good a track as it looked – and they chose to bat first on it - there was something there for the bowlers if you put it in the right places.”
