Now another Folland starts racking up the runs + Pullan in a hurry + Hockin hits out + Sandford all out for 28 + Allgh bags five +

Harrison Folland, who scored a century for Exmouth II against Barnstaple & Pilton

A NAME from the past gave Barnstaple & Pilton the run round in their 81-run defeat by Exmouth II.

Nick Folland, the former Somerset player and record-breaking Devon batsman, piled up the runs against Devon League bowlers for two decades.

Folland senior seldom plays these days, but son Harrison does and don’t B&P know it now.

Folland junior has been living in London and playing for Southgate, until last Saturday when he marked his return to the Exmouth side with 114 in the meeting at Raleigh Meadow.

Lawrence Greenway made 88 in a stand of 171 with Folland that helped Exmouth reach 262 for six in 45 overs.

George McEndoo (3-51) got Folland out after he had faced 125 balls and hit 12 of them for four and two for six.

McEndoo the top scored for B&P with 63 in their total of 181 for eight. Lee Cole chipped in with 22.

Folland completed his afternoon with a couple of wickets.

COUNTESS Wear’s batsmen had an off day against Heathcoat II, who bowled them out for 129.

James Bogue made 37 and Mark Davey 23, but most of the rest struggled to deal with Himanshu Allgh (5-17) and Dan Sumner (2-22).

Heathcoat had a dodgy start as they lost openers Guy Bucknell and Mat Parkes cheaply.

James Onley-Gregson (46) and Simon Sonczak then put on 59 to make a five-wicket win a formality.

Kam Singh took three for 28 for the Wear, who will hope to improve against North Devon II this Saturday.

BEN Pullan stroked a quickfire 87 in Clyst St George’s seven-wicket win over visiting Uplyme.

The wickets were shared between six bowlers as Clyst dismissed Uplyme for 144. Tyler Wellman top scored on 37.

Pullan, who hit seven fours and six sixes in a 60-ball stay, put on 88 with Chris Ferro (26no) to win the game with more than 20 overs to spare.

SANDFORD II came a propper cropper against visiting Chardstock, who defeated them by 132 runs.

Harvey Blake (3-35) led the bowling effort as Sandford dismissed Chardstock for 160. Gary Larcombe made 45.

Sandford were skittled out for a paltry 28 in reply with Rob Hutchings (5-8) doing the damage.

Only three batters made any runs at all in the Sandford innings, which included eight ducks!

NORTH Devon 2nd XI wrapped up a seven-wicket win over Upottery with time to spare.

Upottery were bowled out for 130 with David Hartley mowing down five batters for 14 runs. Slumping from 76 for three to 78 for eight was at the heart of Upottery’s woes.

North Devon started inauspiciously by losing openers Joe Kelly and Matt Knapman by the time they reached 10.

Jack Hockin (57) and Richard Screech (47)  put on 103 for the third wicket to put the outcome beyond doubt.
