DEVON clubs can apply for up to £4,000 following the launch of the 2018 ECB Small Grant Scheme

This is an ECB funding programme that is now in its eighth year and is available to all Devon Cricket affiliated clubs.  Each County Cricket Board across the country has been allocated a finite pot of money to spread across these clubs and so the purpose of this article is to outline the process that Devon Cricket (DCB) will be following this year in terms of allocating funding.

Working with Cricket Leagues is incredibly important, particularly in addressing the issues around declining participation.  Weather can also be a key factor in reducing the amount of cricket played. We are delighted to announce that this year the scheme will be again be partnered by the Tolchards Devon Cricket League and we are very grateful for their continued support.

To be eligible for a grant, clubs will need to support at least one of the ECB’s four main national programmes – All Stars Cricket, U19 T20, Get The Game On and developing women’s cricket.

Projects should also be linked to one of these areas, eg new covers to support the Get The Game On campaign or refurbished women’s changing rooms to make a clubhouse more appealing to female players.

And more clubs are set to benefit than ever before with an increase in funding for 2018.

Devon Cricket Board Development Manager Matt Theedom said:

“The ECB Small Grant Scheme is a fantastic way to help clubs implement small changes that can make a big difference to their long-term sustainability.

“In 2018 the scheme will support clubs committed to increasing the number of games they play, becoming more family friendly, improving facilities for women cricketers or putting on great events linked to the U19 Club T20 competition.

“The increased funding is great news and will allow us to help support more clubs than ever before.” – Matt Theedom

Small Grant Scheme Guideance Notes For Clubs

In 2017, 18 clubs improved their grounds through the scheme (then called the England and Wales Cricket Trust Small Grant scheme). Clubs who benefited last year can reapply in 2018 but their project must be significantly different.

Clubs cannot use the grant retrospectively (eg for items already purchased). Other ineligible schemes include; large scale renovation projects (over £20k), floodlights, roofing, marquees, sheds/ storage containers and second hand mobile covers.

The minimum grant is £1,000 and clubs will also need to contribute at least 10% of the cost of their project.

Applications have now closed.
