Another half century for Bowser as England Disablity XI warm-up for T20 final
THE England Learning Disability side will go into tomorrow’s T20 Final of the INAS Tri-Series supported by NatWest on a high after a 73 run victory over South Africa at Oxton Cricket Club.
Ayanda Kolisi made early inroads for the South Africans after they elected to bowl first. Despite cameos from Ronnie Jackson and Jonny Gale, Kolisi (3-20) kept England in check as they reached 53-4 at the halfway stage.
Unfortunately for the visitors those wickets brought North DevonDan Bowser and Chris Edwards to the crease. A 70 run partnership between the pair boosted England towards another impressive total. After Edwards fell for 25, Bowser further upped the tempo. His 56 included three huge sixes and helped England finish on 140-6.
South Africa were never in the game in reply as wickets for Jackson (3-10) and Alex Jervis (2-25) saw them slip to 29-6. Phelelani Mbambo and Kolisi ensured an air of respectability with a 33 run partnership that was ended by a superb direct hit from substitute fielder Lee Stenning.
The remaining wickets fell quickly as South Africa were dismissed for 67. Kolisi ended a good day on a personal level with 16 not out.
England will await the result of Australia v South Africa later today to see who they will face in tomorrow’s final at Nantwich CC.
