Carr completes 100k walk for charities

Journey

FOOTSORE but smiling! That was Devon cricket manager Warren Carr after completing a 100k charity challenge.

Warren, who manages Devon’s senior women’s and under-13 girls’ teams, took part in Race the Tide – a non-stop charity walk from Melrose in the Scottish borders to Lindisfarne island off the Northumbrian coast.

Back home in Plymouth after his weekend adventure, Warren said it had been hard going but worth it to raise money for two causes close to his heart: Alzheimers UK and the David Shepherd Cricket Trust.

“It took 28 hours and took me through a sunset and 11 hours of darkness through to sunrise and on to Lindisfarne,” said Warren.

“I got through endless jelly babies, hundreds of glow sticks and burned thousands of calories.

“I was painful – I have got a very sore right knee – but miraculously only one blister.”

Warren has already raise nearly £1,400 through his virginmoneygiving page and is leaving it open for a bit longer.

“Should anyone still like to make a pledge, I could push on past £1500 to help raise funds for two great charities,” he said.
