Wilson and Immerman speed Dumplings to victory over North Devon
BERNIE Wilson and Adrianne Immerman took four wickets each to speed the Devon Dumplings to a 154-run win over North Devon at Instow.
The Dumplings, whose bating looked strong on paper, opted to bat first and lost Sam Ewen after four balls.
Kenton Vos (63) and Corey Sinclair (95) put on 132 for the second wicket in a little over 15 overs.
Niall Leahy (40) carried on the good work and there were cameos from Immerman (21no) and Dan Fogarty (27no off 13 balls).
Skipper Bernie Wilson decided 279 for six off 35 overs was enough and called the team in for an early tea.
Mike Merrick was the pick of the hosts’ bowling, picking up three wickets for 50 runs.
Did the Dumplings have enough, or had Wilson been a bit too generous on a slick outfield and a hard, fast track?
Immerman clearly thought so and ripped out the early order, taking the first four wickets for 10 runs - all bowled - leaving North Devon reeling on 21 for 4.
A change of pace saw veteran Wilson bowl a wily line. He ended up with four for 38 as North Devon struggled to 102 for eight.
Ewen mopped up the last two for 15 and the hosts were all out for 125 in the 25th over.
Barney Huxtable with 53 off 44 balls was the only batsman to look comfortable.
