Devon Days at Somerset CCC
In addition to being able to watch Devon compete in the MCCA
T-20 competition, as well as the KO Trophy and the Championship,
members will have the opportunity to attend two Specsavers County
Championship matches at Taunton this season.
In recent times, connections between Devon and Somerset have
become closer and in the last decade more Devon players (10) have
become professional cricketers with Somerset than ever before.
Relations between the respective coaching and administrative staffs
have become more productive, to mutual benefit and Andrew Cornish,
the Somerset CEO, has generously offered the opportunity for Devon
CCC members to be spectators at no cost on Sunday, June 30th in the
Championship match versus Hampshire and on Tuesday, September
10th for the Championship game v Yorkshire.
Membership/fixture cards will have to be shown to get into the matches
and Somerset staff have arranged for one of the stands to be available
for the exclusive use of Devon members throughout these days.
It is very much hoped Devon members will be attracted to these
games and will wish to attend in large numbers. They can be assured
of a warm welcome from Somerset CCC, who are making special
arrangements for the days, and the Devon committee. Somerset have
agreed to make some players available during these days, There will, of
course, be opportunities to meet Devon cricketing friends in
the intimate setting of the beautiful county ground at Taunton. It is
hoped these days will be a great success and will be become an annual
event.
In further appreciation of the loyalty of Devon CCC members, from May
to August, there will be a monthly draw, free to all members, the prize
for which on each occasion is hospitality for two – morning coffee,
lunch and tea at a subsequent home match of the winners’ choosing.
The Devon CCC committee hopes that members will enjoy
their county cricket in the 2019 season.
