BAD weather played havoc with the first round of fixtures in the newly slimmed-down North Devon Cricket League.

The only games to survive in what is now a two-division competition were at Instow and Hatherleigh.

The games at Newton Tracey, Barnstaple & Pilton, Lynton and Westward Ho! all fell foul of lack of preparation time on their grounds.

Belstone won by 129 runs at North Devon where, having won the toss, they racked-up a total of 338 for four.

West Indian import Shaquan Glasgow and Kian Burns put on 245 for the second wicket. Both retired having achieved their centuries. Phil Hatton chipped in with 41.

North Devon were all-out for 209 in reply. Jas Kalsi scored 117 for the hosts before being scotched by the Glasgow/Burns combination.

Glasgow had the best figures of the day (3-40) from his eight overs.

Exford made the long trip to Hatherleigh for a Division Two fixture, where they suffered a 137-run defeat.

Hatherleigh posted 265 for seven after veteran Ross Cherrington [46] and Indian newcomer Shreyansh Ghosh (75) opened-up with a stand of 127.

Rob Cockwill, the Hatherleigh captain, finished off the innings with a robust 73 not out from 37 balls.

Will Lock (3-47) was the pick of the bowlers for Exford, who were bundled out for 128 in reply. No one scored more than the 28 extras.
